Polliesdividend goals for 2020

Hello everyone, I wish you all a great 2020 with lots and lots of dividend. I hope you have enjoyed the Holiday-break as much as I did. I’ve been away with my family and enjoyed every moment together.

All good things come to an end and normal life has set in again. It’s time to go back to school, work, and real life.

Last week I’ve reviewed my 2019 goals in my post Reviewing my 2019 goals. I’ve achieved four out of six goals and I’ve set 2 new all-time highs in 2019 and I’m proud of it! And now it is time for new and challenging goals for 2020.

Personally, I always find it nice to think about my goals. Time to look back and reflect upon the past and dream about the future. Therefore, I just need a quiet place (and this is hard to find in a household with two young kids 😆), a nice beer (this time it was a Paulaner Hefe Weizen) and some time. Just thinking of what I want to change, what to keep and what to drop.

This year, my goals are pretty similar to last year. I think my new job keeps me extra busy for a little bit longer. So, I’ll have the same struggle balancing my time as last year. But I’ll do my utmost best to keep my snowball rolling. Here are my 2020 goals:

1. Receive € 5,000+ in dividend in 2020

In 2019 I received € 4,267.17 in dividend income.

And at the time of this article, my projected annual dividend income is € 4,384. So, a simple calculation shows that in order to reach this goal I have to add € 616 of annual dividend income to my Vrijheid Fonds.

At this moment my Vrijheid Fonds has an average dividend yield of 3.49%. If my new purchases will at least have the same yield, I will need almost € 17,600 new capital to invest (at the beginning of this year). This is a really, really challenging goal (you have to love an understatement 😆). And when I write this down, I’m beginning to doubt if it is possible at all. But if I don’t reach for the moon, I’ll never reach the stars. With this attitude, I’m keep smiling at this goal.

If I look back at the last couple of years, I see that I also receive extra dividend because of the dividend increases in my Vrijheid Fonds every year. Last year I have received an extra dividend of €120 through dividend increases. If I deduct this amount from the required dividend, based on the assumption that I will receive just as many dividend-increases in 2020 than in 2019, I will need around €500 more dividends to reach this goal. To reach this I need to feed my Vrijheid Fonds around €14,300 of fresh capital. This makes my goal a little bit more realistic.

Besides some amazing dividend increases I also hope that I will again receive a special dividend this year. And another important thing for 2020 is that I’ll have to buy companies with a higher yield than my weighted average yield. This all together will help me with reaching this goal.

I’m definitely not saying that this goal is impossible, I want to characterize it as really challenging. I think by trying to reach this goal, I will help myself to come closer to my Financial Independence Day.

2. Invest a total of € 10,000 new cash

In order to let my Vrijheid Fonds grow, it needs fresh cash. My ultimate goal is to live of my dividend Income. Therefore my Vrijheid Fonds needs to grow. In 2020 I will feed my dividend factory at least € 10,000 of new capital. This is about 7.36% of its current value.

3. Receive €800+ on passive income from side hustles

I have had a goal for my side hustles in the last two years. And 2020 will be no different. For 2020, I will try at least to match this income. So, for 2020 I set my goal at € 800. My current side hustles are:

  • Google AdSense
  • Bol.com
  • Amazon.com
  • Member’s Board
  • Euroclix. Click here to earn some extra cash with taking some surveys (Dutch).

I’m always looking for some new ways to earn some extra money for my Vrijheid Fonds. At this moment I have some new ideas on which I will come back later on this year.

If you have ideas for some extra side income, please let me know.

4. Write a least 100 post on Polliesdividend

Polliesdividend.com is live since July 2015, and I still enjoy writing blog posts. Writing my investing decisions down helps me to make better decisions. And it also helps me to track my progress.

Another motivation is to network more actively with other investors focused on dividend growth investing. The wider audience and increased traffic to Polliesdividend is a welcome bonus.

Although I didn’t reach this goal in 2019 and I will have the same struggle in balancing my time in 2020, I still think this is a good goal for my website. I’ll try to grow my audience and one way by doing this, is to write more post.

So for this year my goal is the same as last year.

5. Grow Polliesdividend.com to 60,000 views in 2020

Back in 2015 my plan was quite simple: By blogging my journey, I would build a following. And when I had enough followers and readers, I would hopefully be in a position to earn a little side money and  earn enough money to cover my expenses of Polliesdividend.com.

In 2018 and 2019 I had almost the same number of visitors to my site. And I’m appreciating each and every one of them. So, a very warm thank you to every dedicated reader, casual fan, critic and everyone who tweeted and supported this site and my posts in 2019. I enjoy posting on this site, reading you comments and I’m glad you enjoy visiting it.

For 2020 my priority is, as I already mentioned, still to increase my followers and views for Polliesdividend.com. In 2020 I’ll set the same goals as in 2019. I want to increase my traffic by 10%. It is challenging but possible if I focus on regularly posting content for you, my readers. And I realize that this goal is related with goal 4. The more I post, the more traffic I garner. My hope is the site is providing value to you in some way, shape or form.

Summary of my 2020 Goals
  1. Receive € 5,000+ of dividend in 2020.
  2. Invest a total of € 10,000 new cash.
  3. Receive € 800+ on passive income from side hustles
  4. Write a least 100 post on Polliesdividend!

Pollie
