Month review of my Vrijheid Fonds for February 2020

The markets across the world fell in the last week of February, mostly over concerns of the coronavirus. The Conora virus which started in China has been spreading across the globe. Here in The Netherlands the number of people that are infected grows every day. It is not an epidemic yet, but this is believed to cause investors to sell their positions.

Even with all the paper losses and media coverage this past week, my portfolio continued to pay dividends. Yes, the market will go up and down. Sometimes the shifts will seem drastic. But in the long run, the market will continue to rise. That’s why I hardly even pay attention to the media anymore.

So, it is time to tell you how my month of February was. And I’m happy, because this is a blog post about my favorite topic, dividends!  I hope this post inspires other people out there to start saving and investing as soon as they can.  The power you feel knowing that you are richer than you were yesterday and you didn’t have to work a minute for it, is a wonderful feeling.

Dividend

In total I received €219.85 ($242.45) in passive income in February. My Vrijheid Fonds had three dividend increases! Realty Income raised its dividend with 2.20%, AT&T with 2.00% and AbbVie raised their dividend with 10.30%. In total my Vrijheid Fonds has had already 5 dividend raises this year.

If we take a closer look, the dividend was coming from:

  • AbbVie (ABBV) €40.02
  • AT&T (T) €62.12
  • Omega Healthcare Investments (OHI) €74.37
  • Procter & Gamble (PG) €21.84
  • Realty Income (O) € 21.50

That makes a total of €219.85. This is an increase of almost 29% from last years February! What a great result, I’m proud of it. DGI at work!

Vrijheid Fonds

If we take a look at my Vrijheid Fonds (Freedom Fund), we can see that the value is, as expected,  lower than last month. My total portfolio value at the end of February is $125,615, which is a decrease of 7.35% over last month (€135,586). The markets have been going downwards in February, due to the Corona outbreak in Asia. That is why the value of my portfolio is lower than last month. But as I have earlier in this post, I didn’t and don’t feel any panic about this. Quite the contrary, I’m in it for the long run, so I only see buying opportunities.

In February I again donated € 930 of fresh capital to my Vrijheid Fonds. And yes, I immediately put this money to work!

In February I have made two new buys for my Vrijheid Fonds.  On February 21st I have made my second buy in 2020. I’ve averaged down on the 3M Company. For more information about this buy, just read my post Recent buy – 3M Company – February 2020. And on February 28th I also averaged down on Royal Dutch Shell (XAMS:RDSA). For more information about this buy, just read my post Recent buy – Royal Dutch Shell – February 2020.

Again this month I made a nice step in my journey.

Thanks for reading!

Cheers,

Pollie

Note:

Because all figures I give are in Euro’s. Because the exchange rates is not constant (duh…) my passive income changes per month (even if the dividend stays the same). For the record: I only post my passive income from dividend the month I received it on my brokers account. And it is after taxes.
