Half year review of my Vrijheid Fonds 2019
Dear readers, fellow DGI’s,
We have past the half waypoint in the calendar year 2019 recently, so it is time again to reflect upon the past performance of my Vrijheid Fonds. Time really flies when you are having fun. Just as a reminder, see my blog post for my goals 2019
If we look back, I think it is fair to say that we have had a fantastic first half year. My Vrijheid Fonds has increased by a little bit more than 15%! And this despite all the tensions surrounding the trade wars between the US and a number of countries.
Why do I do a review, you ask? Well there are actually a couple of reasons (besides because it’s fun to write). By doing my own review periodically it will help me understand better whether I’m on course to meeting my goals, or whether I need to change my strategy or tactics. It also helps me to stay focused on actively managing my Vrijheid Fonds. And I believe it helps me, through reflecting on the past, to be a better DGI.
Vrijheid Fonds
Okay without further delay, it is time to look at my Vrijheid Fonds. First start with some key statistics.
Some key statistics on my Vrijheid Fonds for 2019:
- Net Value at the start of 2019: € 102,429
- Net Value at the end of Q2 2019: € 122,395
- Fresh added new in first half of 2019: € 3,961
With these numbers we can calculate the growth of my Vrijheid Fonds in the first half of 2019. My portfolio’s total return in the first half of 2019 was 15.04%! I’m happy with a total return of more than 15% so far. I’ve been setting all-time highs every month. This is really a great feeling.
And if we compare my return with the return of some major indices, we see that my Vrijheid Fonds was in line with the indices.
Now that we know how my Vrijheid Fonds has performed in the first half of the year, it is time to take a look at my three goals that I set for my Vrijheid Fonds in 2019.
Goal 1: Receive €4,100+in 2019
In the first six months of this year I received a total of € 2,089.21 in dividend income. Normally the first half of a year is the biggest half-year in dividend. I can say that I’m happy with this amount of passive income. At this moment my projected dividend income for 2019 is €4,020.
Dividend | Q1 | Q2 | Q3 | Q4 | Total |
2014 | 90.11 | 509.38 | 226.04 | 289.32 | 1,114.85 |
2015 | 323.04 | 634.43 | 401.28 | 414.83 | 1,773.58 |
2016 | 511.80 | 769.88 | 1,148.63 | 649.08 | 3,079.38 |
2017 | 673.10 | 923.18 | 726.82 | 758.06 | 3,081.16 |
2018 | 685.87 | 1,106.87 | 907.13 | 812.09 | 3,509.82 |
2019 | 889.05 | 1,200.17 | 2,089.21 |
Tabel 1. Dividend income Vrijheid Fonds.
I’m happy to report that I’m on schedule to reach this goal. Of course, it is important that I don’t get surprised by a sudden dividend decrease/slash. And that the exchange rate of the Dollar will not change that much.
Grade:Passing!
Goal 2: Invest a total of € 7,500 new cash
In order to let my Vrijheid Fonds grow, it needs fresh cash. In the first six months of 2019 I added a total of € 3,961 of fresh capital.
I have put this new cash to good use. Every month I bought a lit bit more than € 100 worth of mutual Funds for my “Safe-haven-sleep-well” part of my Vrijheid Fonds.
In April I made my first big buy for my Vrijheid Fonds. I bought my first stocks of AbbVie. For more information about this buy, read my post on Recent buy AbbVie – April 2019. After this buy, I’ve added some extra shares in June – Recent buy AbbVie – June 2019 and July – Recent buy AbbVie – July 2019.
Furthermore, I’ve averaged down on one of my favorite Dividend Aristocrats – The 3M company. For more information about this buy, read my post on Recent buy 3M – May 2019.
And in May I also bought a new Dutch addition to my Vrijheid Fonds. Just before the ex-dividend date I’ve bought 20 shares of NN Group NV. For more information about this buy, read my post on Recent buy – NN Group NV – May 2019.
If I keep this pace up, I will definitely reach this goal!
Grade: Passing!
Goal 3: Receive €800+ from side hustles
In 2018I received €835 in total of side hustle income and my goals is to, at least, match this income for 2019. So, for 2019 I’ve set my goal at € 800.
My current side hustles are:
- Google AdSense
- Bol.com
- Amazon.com
- Member’s Board
- Click here to earn some extra cash with taking some surveys
Only the Member’s Board have paid out to me in 2019. The other four side hustles haven’t paid out to me (yet). At this moment I’ve earned € 400,- of extra cash with my side-hustles.
I’m pretty convinced that Google AdSense and Euroclix will pay out to me this year. Together with some extra meetings of the member’s board, I will reach this goal by the end of 2019.
Grade: Passing!
This was my review of my goals 2019 that are related to my Vrijheid Fonds. I will do another review of the remaining goals, which are related to my website Polliesdividend.com, but first let’s have a closer look at the development of my Vrijheid Fondsin the first half of 2019.
Vrijheid Fonds
At the end of the first six months of 2019, I have 27 stocks, 5 mutual funds and 1 corporate bond in my Vrijheid Fonds. I didn’t sell any stocks in 2019 so fare and, as I already wrote, five new buys. I had to accept 17 increases in the first half of 2019. Man, this was hard And I’ve received a special dividend from BBL. For more information about this special dividend, read my post on Special dividend BHP Billiton (BBL) – 2019.

If I look at this table I can fairly say, that it has been a great half year for my Vrijheid Fonds.
The Dollar
If you look at my portfolio, you can image that the value of my portfolio is positively affected by a stronger Dollar. And let this be the case in the first half of 2019. The Dollar has got a tiny bit stronger in the first half of 2019 (0.40%).
Finally
Well, things are looking pretty good. 2019 has been a good year so far and despite the ever-increasing share prices, it still gave me some nice buying opportunities.
At this moment I’m passing all my goals of my Vrijheid Fonds! *Cheering*
How was your first half of 2019? How are you doing with your goals for 2019? Passing or failing?
Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
Pollie
